Mahinda all rounder Rumesh Buddika recipient of the BATA the Sunday Times All Island Schoolboy Cricketer of the year 2010 is no doubt going to be proud as he will be the first ever Mahindian to be bestowed with this honour.

Apart from the main award Rumesh had the honour of winning the best batsman award. The 19 year old stylish left handed batsman who is a member of Under 19 national team is no doubt a worthy recipient who has been a regular member having made tours to over four countries. His sterling performance in the school cricket arena made during the past seasons caught the eye of the selectors which saw him seal his place in the national junior team.
This season Rumesh was unable to represent his school due to national duties, but his performance in the tours he made and his inclusion as a member of the Under 19 side at the ICC Youth World Cup satisfied the panel of selectors who made the decision.Rumesh is now on tour of UK with Denuwan Rajakaruna who is another brilliant stroke maker and wicket keeper produced by Mahinda
