The history of this game runs beyond 1993. Mr. Nallaperuma was the founder of the first scrabble club of Mahinda College with very few students. He was the teacher in charge and coach of the scrabble club. Students were greatly enthusiastic about the game.

With the guidance of Mrs. S.R. Athukorale our scrabble club achieved significant victory; we won for the best outstation team trophy in 1999. With that achievement we were able to win the “British Council Challenge Trophy” for the best outstation Scribblers.

Every year our school Scrabble tram was selected for the best 16 teams at all island Scrabble competitions.

Mrs. Malani Hettiarachchi spent her valuable time for training the primary students for tournaments. Once a week they stayed after school for practicing.

Every year juniors and sub juniors take part in annual sports meet scrabble tournaments.

This is an interesting game which can be played with family members. Just like chess, carom this is also a famous indoor game. At last we must give our thanks to well wishers who donated us scrabble sets.
